Successful Jeffco Businesses Recognized at Awards
Event
Business Leaders Honor Innovation
and Economic Impact
in Jefferson County.
Arvada,
Colo. – The Jefferson Economic Council (JEC) honored
leading businesses in Jeffco that experienced significant
growth in 2005. “Jefferson County: Something to Shout
About!” was the theme of this year’s event,
as nearly 300 attendees gathered at the 13th annual Industry
Appreciation Awards Event the morning of March 30, 2006,
at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities.
The event drew attendance and sponsorship from the business,
education, and government communities who recognize the
importance of capital investment and new jobs to the Jefferson
County economy.
“As we try to encourage job growth and capital investment
in Jefferson County, it is important for us to recognize
the businesses and individuals who have made significant
contributions in these areas over the past year. In Jeffco,
we are fortunate to have a healthy mix of proven businesses
and innovative small businesses. They deserve this recognition,”
said Preston Gibson, President and CEO of Jefferson Economic
Council.
The event’s top award was the Pioneer Award, which
was given to the Rocky Mountain Bottling Company for its
leadership, vision, and its role in increasing primary jobs
in Jefferson County. The award for the Economic Developer
of the Year honored School of Mines President Dr. John Trefny
for his leadership initiatives. Other awards were the Innovative
Technology Award (given to Community Power Corporation),
Business Recognition Awards (recipients included Unaxis
Optics, BEC POS, Ball Metal Beverage Container Operations,
Epilog Laser, and Byers Peak), Chairman’s Choice Award
(Gambro, Inc.) and the Community Spirit Award, (awarded
to former Wheat Ridge mayor Gretchen Cerveny). A new award,
the Jefferson County Workforce Development Partnership for
Business Award, was given to the Rocky Mountain Asphalt
Education Center for implementing a workforce training program
for at-risk teens.
