On the morning of November
4, 2005 at the Denver Marriott West Hotel, Jefferson Economic
Council hosted the 2006 Economic Forecast. This annual event
reveals what is on the horizon for next year's economy and
business climate and is historically one of JEC's most popular.
This year was no exception. With a sold-out crowd
of 300 attendees, the event was very well received.
Three economic professionals spoke about the economy in
their respective areas of expertise.
Giving the national perspective this year was Dr. Scott
Anderson, Senior Economist for Wells Fargo. Dr. Scott Anderson
is responsible for analysis and forecasting of international,
national and regional economic trends. Areas of focus include
macroeconomic and interest rate forecasting, financial markets
and international economics.
He provides daily analysis of U.S. economic news, and produces
Wells Fargo Economics macroeconomic forecasts. He authors
the bi-monthly Wells Fargo California Outlook report and
co-authors Wells Fargo’s weekly Financial Market Strategies
report and the monthly Economic Indicators report. In addition,
he covers the United Kingdom, China, South Korea, Japan,
Hong Kong, and Singapore as part of a bi-monthly international
report offered by Wells Fargo.
Rich Wobbekind, Director of the Business Research Division
for University of Colorado at Boulder gave the forecast
at the Colorado state level. Wobbekind is Associate Dean
for External Relations, Associate Professor of Business
Economics and Finance, and Director of the Business Research
Division at the Leeds School of Business at CU. His responsibilities
include developing an annual consensus forecast and performing
various economic impact assessments of the Colorado economy.
